Introduction

Helix Records is the new flagship electronic music label by veteran music executive Patrick Moxey. With Ultra Records, which he founded in 1995 and sold to Sony Music earlier this year, Moxey has had massive successes, bringing superstars like Steve Aoki, Kygo, Lost Frequencies, Deorro, DVBBS, Benny Benassi, Headhunterz, Era Istrefi and many more to the very top, while featuring releases of huge artists like Avicii, deadmau5, Alan Walker, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta & Pitbull, just to name a few. He also entered a global alliance with Ultra Music Festival, which a few years later was named world’s top festival by renowned music magazine DJ Mag. And did we mention that he also founded Payday records, the hip-hop label that launched the career of Jay-Z and many others?

With Patrick as a leader and visionary, a team of highly dedicated people, the learnings from the past 25 years, and the new possibilities that open up with the rise of web3 and NFTs, with Helix records we aim to outgrow the successes of Ultra Records within the next few years.

Problem

Nowadays, most debuting artists struggle to benefit from their work, let alone making some sort of profit from their initial releases. They also have a hard time figuring out how to build their personal brand, lacking access to essential insights on their fan base. And even when they find a way to gather some, the opportunities to increase revenue on an ongoing basis remain limited. Particularly when building a brand, artists need some sort of initial thrust. At the same time, fans would like to have the opportunity to support their favorite artists more intensively and closely on the road to success. This is currently difficult to achieve. Even if fans support an artist at a very early stage, there are no ways for them to benefit from an artist’s later success, and on existing music platforms they do not enjoy any data protection. This is because in a web2 world, users’ data is often sold to the highest bidder, and the users themselves are not able to benefit in any way from that sale.

Music NFTs (NFTs “containing” songs) are recently gathering more attention and people are starting to realize the huge potential that lies in them. Most of the solutions in the market today are presented as a “way out” for artists to finally take full ownership of their work. However, running away from big record labels and streaming platforms like Spotify is currently not the best solution, as the NFT market is still too young and underdeveloped to allow that. The approach to be taken should rather be of a cooperative kind and try to get those players involved which are dominating the market. This is where Helix comes to play: with Patrick Moxey’s successful background in writing music history, the label is breaking into web3 by directly onboarding its full roster, giving the artists full support through all stages.

Thanks to NFT technology, new possibilities and features are unlocked for the music industry, including a completely new concept of ownership and privacy for the artists and fans, which will massively simplify and improve the whole creative journey. By doing so, Helix is building an ecosystem where its artists are finally truly empowered and where unique and unprecedented experiences are given birth.

Vision

Web3 will play a crucial role in the process of making Helix the world’s №1 electronic dance music label. That’s why we will be building a strong and organic community of passionate music and tech visionaries right from the beginning. Our first project will build the groundwork for Helix Record’s web3 roadmap. It will be rolled out step by step together with the Helix artists and Helix community and will be forming a bridge between the real live experience of the next headliner EDM stars and the new technological possibilities of the blockchain.

In the first phase, we will be releasing a Genesis Collection consisting of Helix Records Genesis passes. The Genesis pass will mainly act as a membership for the Helix ecosystem, granting holders exclusive access to future music drops from the Helix roster. Furthermore, the pass will also contain additional unique utilities and IRL perks (see Utilities below).

Utilities

Holding the Helix Records Genesis Pass will give you access to exclusive digital & in-real-life utilities, some of which will be more common, others ultra-rare. Holding the Genesis pass will instantly teleport you into the Helix ecosystem, where you’ll get rewarded with utilities on an ongoing and almost limitless basis, and get the chance to make unique and incredible experiences. Here’s how it’ll work:

• Free NFT of one of the greatest dance songs of all time: Every Genesis Pass holder gets the legendary track “Move Your Body” by the Father of House music himself Marshall Jefferson as a NFT.

• Pre-sale access to all upcoming drops: Genesis pass holders get presale access to all upcoming Helix Records NFT drops.

Special raffles will then be run on our server on a regular basis for pass holders only. The selected winners will have the chance to get:

• Merch: Former Patrick Moxey’s label Payday Records’ hoodies and/or Helix Records’ t-shirts with free international delivery.
• Appearance in music videos: for some handpicked Helix’ artists that are planning to release a new music video, we’ll communicate the location where the video will be shot and the available number of spots for appearances up for grabs. Holders of the Genesis pass will then have the chance to participate in the raffle (if the location suits them) and win the unique experience of appearing in the music video next to their favorite artist.
• Backstage passes for live shows of Helix Records’ artists: all concerts’ dates and information will be posted in our Discord server, and holders of the Genesis pass will have the chance to participate in raffles to win backstage passes for their favorite artist’s live show. Holders who win the passes will also be able to give them out to their friends as a gift.
• VIP passes for live shows of Helix Records’ artists: for some Helix artist’s NFT drops, there will be a certain amount of VIP passes available as a utility. Holders who get the VIP pass will be able to open a ticket and reach out to the Helix team to redeem the utility. The Helix team will then arrange the VIP experience for the live show location that best suits the holder’s needs. Holders who win the VIP passes will also be able to give them out to their friends as a gift.
• Vinyls: Limited edition physical vinyls for each Helix roster’s NFT drop, including 1/1 unique clear vinyls. All vinyls will be pressed and shipped for free within 3–6 weeks.
• Free tickets to live shows: for each concert, there will be free tickets for our holders up for grabs. All new live shows’ dates from Helix’ artists will be periodically posted in our Discord, and holders will be able to participate in the raffles and win the free tickets. Not only will holders get a ticket for their favorite live show, they will also be able to bring a friend with them or even give out both tickets as a present, making it an intimate and unrepeatable experience to share with their favorite people.

Additionally, the following special utilities will be available for holders:

• 1:1 with Patrick Moxey: one lucky holder will get the chance to personally meet our founder Patrick Moxey and have a chat with him in front of a pint. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will give the holder valuable insights on what it’s like to run internationally famous labels and what it takes to be successful in the industry.
• Sessions in top-notch recording studios in Paris, London & Los Angeles: holders who already have some experience with producing music and want to make a name for themselves in the industry will have the opportunity to reach out to our team and become eligible for this unique experience. The selected holders will be put in contact with our studio managers and everything will be properly arranged, including a reserved date and time slot for them to work in the studio.
• Enter the Helix Records talent pool: Genesis holders who produce music themselves can submit their music to a gated Discord channel. The Helix team will listen to all submissions and provide professional feedback. And who knows, if a submission inspires the team, there is the possibility of a professional project with Helix Records and the first step into a successful music career is done.

Community

At Helix we want to focus on the individuals, not the masses. That’s why we are handpicking our artists and making their own vision our priority when bringing them to the front of the queue of the masses of releases that are uploaded to streaming platforms every day.

To make this happen, we need a strong core community of music lovers and visionaries to fuel us on that journey by giving valuable feedback, coming up with innovative ideas & getting the word out. And when we get to the top, those who supported us from the very beginning will stand there right next to us.

Helix Records Genesis Drop

• Our first drop, consisting of a Genesis pass for access to the Helix ecosystem

First single drop by a Helix artist

• The first of our artists will drop an exclusive song, coming with exclusive perks. Genesis holders will get it for free

Utility distribution

• After the first single drop, we will start distributing utilities in a holders-only token-gated channel. These will include both digital and IRL perks
• The utility redemption mechanism will work through raffles conducted in the token-gated channel on a weekly basis. Holders will have the chance to choose which raffles to participate in
• Winners of the utilities will be publicly announced and will be able to redeem them by opening a ticket on our server through the ticket tool and providing the necessary information (wallet address or personal data for physical utilities)
• A public registry containing information on the utilities associated with each token ID and on the utility redemption status will be made available for everyone on our server
• Holders will be able to check which utilities are still available to redeem and which token IDs hold them. They will hence have the opportunity to make swap proposals in a channel named #utility-swap, and exchange their utilities with other holders’ ones
