Continual Evolution: A Unique 1/1 Process Art Collection

A selection of herbs from 4 consecutive weeks in summer 2023

Abstract Herbs Project Description

Introduction: The Abstract Herbs represent a unique and exceptional collection of artwork. The artist, David Herbrechter, first introduced the concept of Abstract Herbs in April 2022. Initially, they started as a deconstruction of the OG Herbs, which had made their debut as the “Herbs” collection at the end of 2021. However, it quickly became evident to the artist that they were more than just deconstructions. The Abstract Herbs were born, and since then, new Abstract Herbs have been created every week. Each Herb is a one-of-a-kind piece, crafted by hand, constantly evolving and engaging in a dialogue with the artist’s surroundings.

Evolution and Influences: The Abstract Herbs bear the marks of their creation time, the artist’s location, and the continuous inspiration drawn from the community. Influences from various periods of creation and the artist’s places of residence are discernible in each piece. The community plays an active role by providing inspiration and participating in the creative process. As of the publication of this text, we are now in the 18th month of this Abstract Herb journey, and significant developments have occurred.

Achievements: The result is a collection of over 1300 unique Herbs, each with its own story to tell. The project has attracted nearly 300 collectors who have become part of this artistic journey. Furthermore, the artist’s creative development has been remarkable throughout this process. What started as a personal endeavor has evolved into a substantial artistic project that continues to flourish.

Publication Format: The project’s publication format has also evolved over time, differentiating itself from conventional projects. Currently, seven Herbs are released every Sunday, aptly named “Herbday.” These Herbs are previewed a day prior on the “Abstract Herb Banner,” which serves as a platform for showcasing and celebrating each creation. Collecting these banners has also become a recent addition, reflecting the significant evolution in the project’s visual identity.

Conclusion: The Abstract Herbs project by David Herbrechter has grown into a dynamic and thriving artistic journey. With over 1300 unique creations, a passionate collector community, and ongoing artistic development, it continues to captivate audiences. The project’s unconventional approach to publication, including the introduction of “Herbday” and the collectible banners, adds an innovative dimension to the art world, making Abstract Herbs a truly distinctive and evolving creative endeavor.
